BSDCan 2017
The Technical BSD Conference

Jason Tubnor

Jason has over 23 years of IT industry experience in a vast range of disciplines and is currently the ICT Security Lead at Latrobe Community Health Service (Victoria, Australia).

Discovering Linux and Open Source in the mid 90’s, Jason has used these tools to solve various problems in organisations that cover different industries.

In late 2000 while on secondment in Hong Kong, Jason was introduced to OpenBSD by a Canadian college. This was a game-changer for Jason, a tool of simplicity with concise documentation that rivaled commercial offerings could now be used to solve problems without introducing complexity to environments while having confidence that security would not be compromised.

As time passed, other BSDs were used by Jason to solve problems, depending on the type of deployment and use case. One would say Jason doesn’t need much of an excuse to deploy BSD into a network.

Outside of Tech, Jason enjoys cycling, specifically multi-stage road racing and mountain biking enduros.
