PC-BSD: How BSD will dominate the open source desktop
4 out of 5 newbies prefer a graphical installer and ease of use
PC-BSD is set to dominate the desktop. Find out why.
PC-BSD is a FreeBSD-based system designed to entice new users with some additions and modifications to FreeBSD that include a graphical installer, a default KDE desktop setup, and a GUI-based self-extracting package installer that attempts to reduce some of the complexities of software and dependency management for casual users. These changes, combined with some system pre-configuration and other features, make PC-BSD easier and more attractive than many other options as a potential desktop operating system choice to try out.
