Wow. That sucked.
Drinks were slow. Some of us had to wait at least a full 45 minutes for our drinks - after they were ordered.
We ordered food, and were told quite a while later that they ran out of the Steak Special. Some of us ordered the regular steak - They had a few left, but not enough for the rest of us. Eventually (Over 90 minutes after ordering) the food arrived - and not all of it was correct.
I would have stayed, but as soon as we were done, we were given our bills - and there was no way I was ordering anything else after the waitress saw the tip I left her and the comment cards.
That's not even everything, but I doubt anyone is still reading to the rant.
Anyway - Next year, please, let's find somewhere else to go.
Other then that, another great conference Dan!

Sorry about that.
AFAIK, they've usually been very good. I hope to get a chance to speak with the manager this week.
cheers

Yeah, they were a bit on the slow side unless you had the right people to convince the waitresses;-) I had the feeling that they weren't ready for us as more staff arrived while people were waiting.
But leaving PB at a later time to find another place for drinks was not a good idea either.
Maybe we should simply try to not invade them in groups of 0100 next year or prepare them that 0400 geeks can be big money if properly served;-)

They knew we were coming. I contacted them. They got back to confirm via phone. I later got an email from them as well.
They knew. Without doubt. They knew to expect us.

I stop going to restaurants and will talk about them for reasons as such.
They should have had their act together, had enough specials as well as being prompt with orders and telling us they had no more specials.
80/20 rule does often work out in this biz as far as staffing, food inventory, drinks etc... and especially on a Saturday night.
I'm involved in a number of food and dining groups in Toronto and crap like this is not excusable.

Mentioning Toronto is not relevant. Things happen. Everywhere.

Hi!
I happened to stumble along this thread and I am actually a manager at Patty Bolands. I was there the night that the BSDCan2008 group came into Patty Bolands last summer.
We were, as many of you noticed, overwhelmed. The problem was that BSDCan did not confirm their reservation. In light of this, we were understaffed and had a tough time accomodating more than 100 people that came in all at once. It was a regrettable situation since your group has always been one that we have enjoyed serving.
I do hope that you will try us again. Wherever you do choose, please remember to confirm the reservation so that the restaurant can be prepared for you & ensure that you have a great experience.
Cheers,
Kristen Deuzeman

Kristen:
Thanks for replying.
I'm the main BSDCan organizer. Sorry, I didn't know a confirmation was required. But then, perhaps I did know and forgot.
I'll keep it in mind for next year. See you in May.
:)
